My Top Tip for Removing Oil Stains

I had previously shared this tip on Facebook, but once again, I have been sharing it with a lot of people, so thought it needed a permanent location on our blog.

I discovered this method many years ago on a random Google search, so can no longer find the original source. However, what I can tell you is, it works!

I’ve used this on many of my clothes, even very old stains on tops I had given up on. It has worked 95% of the time and has saved so many clothes.

So, Abbie, how does it work?

I believe the trick is that the dish liquid’s job is to take off grease from dishes, so it works for clothes too!

1. I lay out all the clothes I am needing to get oil stains out of on the kitchen table.

2. Grab some dish liquid and some bi-cab soda.

3. Sprinkle some bicarb soda on the stain.

4. Next, squirt some dish liquid on top. Mix together with a spoon or your finger so it forms a paste on the stain.

5. Leave on for an hour.

6. Then wash as normal. I would recommend not adding any Napisan, fabric softener, or spray stain remover. Just your usual laundry detergent.

It really is that easy, and it really works!
