Seriously – we’re a concierge – ask us anything!

Well, almost anything!

Sometimes, one of the biggest stumbling blocks when delegating work to someone else is worrying about what they’ll think. We find this a lot in our role as a personal concierge.

“Won’t they wonder why I don’t do it myself?”

“Won’t they think this is a waste of time?”

“Isn’t this a bit mundane to ask someone else to do?”

Now for some perhaps. the answer to these questions may be “yes!”. But not for a personal concierge. It’s exactly these types of things that we specialise in.

For many changes we want to make in our lives, it is often the first step that is the hardest. Starting a new fitness regime, decluttering your house or getting a new job. Instead of taking action, we let our brains take over and hear all the reasons why we can’t do something. Perhaps, instead of asking “why not?”, start asking yourself “why?” Why have you considered using a personal concierge in the first place? There must have been a reason for you to looking into hiring a concierge. Maybe you never have enough time. Maybe you have an event your need help with. Maybe you want to surprise a friend. Maybe you want to stop arguing with your husband over who’s turn it is to do the grocery shopping.

Once you identify your reason, you then need to ask yourself two questions:

“How will I feel if I don’t get help?”

“How will I feel if I do get help?”

Think about your answers carefully – really identify how you feel about these things. You may even want to write them down, so that you have them on hand when you start feeling doubt.

If your answers lead you to the conclusion that asking for help is going to make you feel better than not asking, then it’s time to take action! Instead of worrying about what your personal concierge will think, just ask. Start delegating!

You can spend a lot of time worrying about what people will think, but the right concierge won’t even think twice. The right concierge will get straight on to the job. Then instead of worrying about what people will think and not delegating, all you’ll need to worry about is what you’ll be able to accomplish with the extra time you’ll have!

“We probably wouldn’t worry about what people think of us if we could know how seldom they do.” Olin Miller
